At least one house in Dyke Road Drive was burgled recently; a burglar has been entering via the rear of the houses, probably through the Anston House field.
There has also been somebody trying to get into houses saying they need access to inspect the drains at the rear of houses in Dyke Road Drive.
Police have been informed. Let us know if you see anything suspicious.
Developers First Base will soon be starting work on 229 flats, commercial and cafe space on the former Anston House site.
This major development will have significant impact on the lives of residents in the area during and after building.
Want to know how this development is going to affect you?
First Base have agreed to meet us and our councillors to discuss any concerns we have about what’s about to happen. As residents we want to keep communication with them as possible to make sure we’re part of the discussion. Please come to this meeting if you can!
Where: Upstairs room, Chimney House, 28 Upper Hamilton Road, BN1 5DF
When: Thursday 23 March 6pm.
Please let us know if you’re coming: firstname.lastname@example.org
The deadline is August 3. EVERYONE in a household is entitled to respond to an application. It really is a numbers game. The number of people who register their opinions does count at planning committee.
View the application online. Comment using the “Comment” tab.
If you want help, take a look here at Planning Aid. Or look at the CPRE’s Planning Help page.
This is our own leaflet which suggests some grounds for objection.
Take a look also at Brighton Deserves Better.
Please also sign the petition and tell as many people as you can about this. From the drawings in the media, few people understand the true scale of this development. It’s extremely large indeed.
Our next meeting is our annual AGM. 11 at the Rotunda, to be followed by our Picnic in the Park. Details to follow.
The next meeting of the DRD Residents Association is on Thursday 14th April 7.30 – 9.30 at Emporium on London Road
We did not manage to have a meeting in January. We had been waiting for an update on plans for the Anston House site.
Finally, we have an update for you and this will be discussed at the meeting on the 14th.

Please can you let me know if you have any items you would like to add to the agenda or post them as comments below.
I look forward to seeing you all on the 14th.

Start time 11am, meet by Parkmore Terrace
A day of making our street look better for National Tree Week. Come out, meet your neighbours and help with:
- Tree dressing – bows, baubles and bulbs
- Clearing out and pruning back the alcoves at the bottom of our road
Bring: gloves, secateurs, bulbs, trowels, coffee, tree baubles. Has anyone got a BIG LADDER? Let us know.
Make a poster
We’re also putting posters up as another way of slowing down the traffic. If you’ve got kids, all they need to do is make a poster on a sheet of A4. Here are some ideas:
- my family
- walking to school
- playing on the street or at the park
Bring them along on the day to be laminated and used to decorate trees!
National Tree Week, 28 Nov – 6 Dec
Residents of Dyke Road Drive should have received a letter from First Base about a meeting on 4 November at which they wish to “demonstrate and discuss our proposals with the residents of Dyke Road Drive, prior to holding largescale public consultation events in November.”
The meeting will be at:
St Luke’s, Prestonville
64 Old Shoreham Road
The meeting will, apparently, “give local residents an opportunity to learn more about our proposals for the site and ask questions.”
If you haven’t received a copy of the letter, you can download the one we received: IMG_20151027_0001[PDF]
Please help us to find out local people’s opinions about the traffic in our area by completing this survey.
You can either complete the box below or follow this link to the external survey site.
