Just to say that recently, the collections have become increasingly unpredictable – seeming to come on any day of the week. They also sent out a calendar for collections, which contradicts what is on the Council website.

There was a time when I knew when to put bins/boxes out – but now it is just hopeless and all you can do is to leave your…[Read more]

And if an ambulance is trying to get through to somebody having a heart attack?

I don’t believe the 20 mph limit has made any difference whatsoever – the idiots still speed and the rest just go at a sensible pace, like they did before. I drive every day and have noticed absolutely zero difference in drivers’ behaviour. What I have noticed is…[Read more]

  • So – again we have road works and parking suspensions. Just 2 days notice and all our parking bays are suspended opposite our homes! Has anything been done to try to get more notice of this sort of thing? We pay huge council tax and then hundreds of pounds each year on top, just to park in our own road and then it is taken away at the drop of a…[Read more]

This sounds like a good idea, but I do know people who have worked in this area in the council and from what they have said, I think you would be very lucky to get an answer from CityClean and even luckier to get them to talk to the council at the moment.

The Police have come out publically and said though, that they cannot enforce a 20 mph speed limit and so these new restrictions will not make any difference in practice.

  • I have the feeling this was not caused by normal traffic, but rather was due to the roadworks which narrowed the road at the bend and created problems with parking – the road became overcrowded at this point.

  • If they sell it on, then it will probably be another few years before the new owners even think about development – just another delaying tactic, sadly.

I know what’s happened although not why? So we have not been getting collections when they were supposed to be made. The last 2 re-cyling collections have not been made on the day specified in the calendar we got from the council.

Secondly the last 2 normal Monday collections have been missed – although they did come on Friday last week – how…[Read more]

  • I think the problem with traffic calming measures like those, is that they apply to all traffic – even emergency services; so ambulances and fire engines get slowed down. If the ambulance doesn’t get through in time to save a child or somebody undergoing a heart attack, is that a good thing?

At the moment we have our own traffic calming, with…[Read more]

  • In response to Jane’s post – the problems with traffic are due to the change to the traffic lights at Preston Circus. I can remember living here when traffic going out of Brighton that wanted to go west, would simply turn left at Preston Circus and go up New England Hill – we got hardly any traffic at that time.

Then they changed the lights so…[Read more]

  • I think the pressing issue is the amount of roadworks we are getting – the last 3 months of 2013 we had constant roadworks, with parking spaces suspended – now in January 14 they are digging up the road again with temporary traffic lights.

I have made an official complaint to the council, but got nowhere – could a residents association achieve…[Read more]
